The Steps4Kids to Write ABCs dvd teaches a traditional manuscript style in a way that reduces the lifting of the pencil but in a way that it still resembles traditional printing seen in books and typically used in daily activities. This dvd can be used to support programs using Zaner-Bloser, Palmer, HWOT and other similar styles.

The ABC dvd includes a writing tips section that shows correct pencil grip, posture and other writing related topics to support both teachers and students. Drawing breaks are also included in this dvd using letters to make basic shapes to reinforce letter strokes and to make practicing fun.


Letters are taught per similarities in letter strokes instead of alphabetically to help students avoid letter reversals. Sight word graphics are also included to help students learn letters sounds and over 100 sight words. (Recommended for students preK-1/Upper and Lowercase).


The Steps4Kids to Write Modern Manuscript DVD (released 4/20/10) is approximately 1 1/2 hours and teaches how to write "modern manuscript" or slanted printing also known as "pre-cursive" printing. Can be used at home or in classrooms using slanted printing styles such as D'Nealian, McDougal, Littell and others. Not only are drawing breaks included to reinforce certain letter strokes but Look2Write games are included to reinforce the reading and spelling of the 100+ words shown in this DVD.


The Steps4Kids to Write Cursive dvd uses visual modeling to teach students how to write cursive letters and words using a style similar to D'Nealian. Letters are also taught in sequence based upon letter strokes to help students master the recognition of and mastery of cursive letters. A special connections section demonstrates basic cursive connecting rules, has a practice session to help students remember when to connect uppercase to lowercase, and even demonstrates how to write certain words in cursive. Look2Write games are interspersed to encourage students to write down what they see in colorful graphics that begin with the letters shown -- great for team or inclusive play. Steps4Kids products can be used by teachers or therapists to support classroom writing curriculum or in learning centers for 1:1 computer support. May also be used with smartboards or other technology with dvd video capabilities. While students watch and follow along with the dvd, staff can tend to individuals who need more assistance.
